Monday morning, children off to school and Don to the airport .. my focus this week is on my book(s) and that’s exciting. Gotta take the daredevil Lincoln out of school tomorrow to get a real doctor to look at that nice gash above his eye. What a surprise the liquid stiches the lazy Sunday afternoon local hospital Doc poured in didn’t stay … but hey it was quick and painless. Need to see if it needs to be repaired as it looks rather ghastly.

Although there are times this game frustrates me greatly, for the most part the ebb and flow of it I handle well. Played the Bellagio’s $540 today, 60 players, pay 9. At 10 handed I call a preflop raise – by a guy who raised everything – with J 10 clubs on the button. Flop comes A K 4 rainbow, he checks, I check. The miracle card for me comes on the turn, a Queen, giving me the nuts. He moves all in with his two pair Kings and Queens and I insta call .. and a King hits the river, busting my straight by a boat. Frustrating to have played so beautifully and had him right where I wanted him ..

Only thing that was really funny was as he yells YES I yell NO at the same time. The entire poker room looked. Bad way to go out ..

School has started, new clothes purchased, backpacks and lunch boxes packed … everyone getting into their routine so I’m headed back to the Bellagio and hope I remember how to play. Think I can hit their daily 2 p.m. tournament today. Can’t wait.

A good read at the end of the summer, and getting serious about moving forward in the fall, is Steve Sisgold’s What’s Your Body Telling You. I’ve known Steve a long time and find his writing to be inspiring and his message on target. I strongly recommend it.

School starts tomorrow, first grade for the twins. The day started with Lincoln jumping, flying through the air, and hitting his head on the fireplace, off to the hospital for liquid stitches. I told him he would be quite a hit for the first day of school. Then I had to go fight through the leftovers in Target to find school supplies. With no pencils or glue sticks I had to hit Office Depot to complete the list. Everyone is ready …
