On the Road Again
Friday was hectic as we got released from the hospital late on Thursday night. No one wanted to move Friday morning. We checked out, headed to Sea World and tried to forget yet another hospital stay. While watching Shamu the Killer Whale got a text from the Dr. that the polyps were negative and the colon was clear, quite a reversal from the November expectations. I had a moment of silent thanks, with tears in my eyes, that all was well. A great feeling.
Thank you to all my friends for your prayers and to God for listening, again.

On the Road Again
Poker today was up and down. First I call a preflop raise with 99 and the small blind goes all in and is called by the original raiser. I have to fold. The flop comes down 9 high rainbow .. if I had still been in I would have had my chips in there and would have been called by the original raiser’s KK and watched him hit a set on the river. So was saved there.
Then I have KK, there’s already a raise and some calls in front of me. So I reraise to isolate and two stay in. Flop comes down A Q 10 all spades. Do you think I might have the K of spades, of course not and there’s an All In bet in front of me so all I can do is fold. Aggravating but called poker.
Managed to get my chip stack going again, call a pre flop raise with A K of hearts, flop comes K 8 7 with two hearts, original raiser does a continuation bet of more than 2/3’s my stack and of course I’m in there -only to find he has a set of eights and I don’t improve. Such a frustrating game.
Oh well off to San Diego tomorrow.

What a day .. my voice is gone, not scratchy but just gone, as in gone. I got some drugs called in and been gargling, then realized I hadn’t eaten and the only soup they have is on the poker floor. So I headed there to get soup and tea with lemons and honey. Play tomorrow at 1 p.m and looking forward to it. Met a nice young man at the tables tonight, polite, well mannered and in college on a soccer scholarship. Wish I knew his mother as I would complment her on what a great job she has done with him.

Today was a miserable poker day. It reinforced my belief you shouldn’t allow people to drink unlimited amounts of alcohol consumption at the tables. I got a kid seated to my left who was drunk, obnoxious and out of control. He pushed every single hand. Finally with 10 10 he calls with 7 2 and hits two pair. Then he cracks my A K with 5 7. Wasn’t my best day. Its also why I like bigger tournaments better than small ones.

The first event is a structure I’ve never done before, basically four start dates and each day plays down to 18. Those 4 days x 18 + 72 players return on Sunday for the bigger monies …
Yesterday out of 1232 I was 75th doe $800, not much for 12 hours of play but more than the first thousand who were knocked out.
Today I did it again but it was really rather unspectacular. First it was cold and rainy and I was seated out under some rainy tent which dripped .. did I mention I was cold. Didn’t do great, didn’t really care and was glad to get out and get to my room. I’ve learned to do my best for a marathon I’ve got to be focused and comfortable and I was neither today.
Got the buy in back at the cash table tonight and will go back at it tomorrow. Will keep you posted.
