On the way to school this morning Sierra had her day long cheerleading camp form in hand to turn into the office. I said did you get the $30 and she said No. So I dug $30 out of my wallet and handed it to her. When I picked them up from school a few minutes ago she told me I needed to call the place where the camp was being held and register directly through them. I told her fine to give me the form and the $30 and I would get it done. Seems like after I dropped them off this morning and the school office told her it was too late to register at the elementary school office she and Lincoln went on a shopping spree at the school science fair. I told them to go into the house and get their money to replace what they spent as I had already given them all I was giving them for the fair. You would have thought I asked them to cut off their arm and hand it to me. A full war erupted. Lincoln wanted to know if he could give it to me in quarters, I told him I didn’t care as long as what they handed me totaled $30. It ended up funny as I handed her a $20 and a $10 this morning and what I got back is baggie full of ones and quaters and dimes …. but the lesson is there, right?
I do a lot of self help and a lot of finding one’s purpose, enjoyed this when I ran across it and thought it was a good place to share it .. on the blog. Enjoy …http://www.mindpowercourse.com/Finding-Your-True-Passion.pdf
Went with high hopes and played my heart out. 662 and I was deep on Day 2 but couldn’t get there. My AK ran into A5 and I was out … what was I thinking she says tongue in cheek. In reality, six table changes always makes it hard to get any traction. Good play now back to work, going to be a great year on a lot of good business fronts so poker needs to take a back seat for now.
As I’m not going to be able to play much this year I wanted to play the Caesars Main Event. They were having some mega satellites but at $100 and 2k in starting chips that was going to be a shove fest with little talent which isn’t my style. So I set my goal to grind out the buy in at cash. Figured that would test me to “grind” some more. I went to Bellagio and started my day at the 2/5 game with $300 and cashed out at $900. Almost there I thought as the buy in was $1,600. The next day I sat down with $300 and was close to the remainder of what I needed when this hand came up … $20 raise by a guy who had already lost several bankrolls. My big blind and I have K 10 of hearts. Flop K of diamonds J and 9 of hearts. I check, orig. bets $40, one guy drops and the guy to my right calls. I make it $150 on top. Original guy goes all in for $197 and so does the guy to my right for right at $200. Turn is a 3 of dianmonds and they are both all in and the river is an ace of spades. The original bettor had K 4 off which is just about what I put him on and the guy to my right had the ace of hearts and a dry queen and makes his hand with the ace. Oh well .. then I had to go back to grinding some. The hand was only of interest to me as to whether I played it right and it seems like it was okay. You want people to call in that spot but I sure thought I was golden there … A K would have been better than what I had …
Which I happen to own and which is coming up for sale this weekend in California, will benefit the Hayden Scholarship Foundation … see link …http://www.americanbankingnews.com/2012/01/17/machine-gun-kellys-historic-shotgun-on-the-auction-block-at-california-auctioneers/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+AmericanBankingNews+%28American+Banking+News%29
So much going on its hard to find the time to write. Gators are doing good, Lincoln told me today he forgot to study for his spelling test and he blew it with a F. I told him no tv until the grades improve. He told me how bored he was without tv which resulted in the very same lecture all parents have been giving for years about how bored someone will be when they are uneducated and working at McDonalds but have plenty of time for TV. The broken record I am sure but I think he got the point, which is I don’t care how bored he is without TV but care deeply about his grades.
