As hard as it is to believe, the twins are 9. We had family and friends and some poker buddies. Great day all around with lots of food, laughter and alcohol. Early evening Sierra turned her birthday bash into having the three girls stay the night. Fine with me. Parents brought over spare clothes. At 11:30 pm one of the girls comes downstairs crying to say she missed her mommy and wanted to go home. Within 30 minutes the other two girls followed suit. At midnight, when they were all gone, Sierra starts crying because her friends had all left. Such drama.
I returned to Las Vegas to get some business things done. When I called last night Lincoln was in a tailspin as Don had told them they had to pick one thing they wanted for their 9th birthday, Monday. “I don’t think I can pick just one Mom” Lincoln said. I laughed. “I bet you can big L”. “Well, there is a bike I really, really like” he says. “Tell me about it”. “Well” he starts, “you know I have a bike which is black and orange, don’t you?” “Yep” I say. “Well I found one today that is gold and guess what the bestest thing about it is. You don’t have to higher up the seat.” Now that made me burst out laughing as I don’t think, in my whole life, I’ve ever heard the phrase higher up. Can’t wait to see them again soon, always fun.
Been enjoying my two and Dons two grandchildren who are close in age to L and S. Just swimming, cooking and doing clothes – mom things for sure.
Well got in the car and headed to get some hugs and see some friendly faces post the Series. Long car trip, but worth it. Family has been camped in my motorhome for three weeks. That night, doing showers, Lincoln looks at me and says “you know one of the reasons I’m glad you’re here?”. Why’s that I ask. “Cuz you’re the one person in this family who knows whether the piles are clean or dirty.”. Had to belly laugh at that one. Good to see people and hear about more than poker.
Well, the WSOP is over, at least for me. It was a different kind of Series for me, as I didn’t play much, but it was good that I was okay with all of it. I did well in the single table sit ‘n go’s, as i love to do those and the only place you can do them 24 hours a day is during the WSOP in the summer. So that is where I spent my time. I decided not to play the Main Event and am okay with that. There was a time when I couldn’t imagine not playing it … but I’m tired, too much going on and too much to make a good run at a marathon. So I decided to skip it, and that is good stuff too.
It’s Don’s birthday and my good friend Bob Dunning, hope it’s spectacular for them both. Have a great one guys.
