My sis has been here for a week and it’s been nice. She’s my back and she’s a great help. The second she got here she learned her husband had fallen and broken his ankle so returning was pretty important. She stuck it out a week and we had a good time and visit .. and this morning she left at 5 a.m. to get back to Denver in one day. Thanks for coming Kat.

Well it’s that time again, birthday time. It’s generally a quiet, unnoticed event, but with Twitter and Facebook it seems the whole world now knows everything about you … lots of wishes through email and postings. It was also Father’s Day and we celebrated both. I did hot yoga and decided to do a double, back to back, 90 minutes each. It was great, although hot, but glad I did it. I’m amazed at what the yoga does for flexibility for the body, not to mention the cleansing.

Played my first event today, the Seniors $1k. What can I say, I struggled to get any traction. I flopped two pair but when the board paired on the turn I knew I had been counterfeited and got away. Only had 3k in chips so one bad hand is brutal but not fatal. Pushed later with 7 big blinds with AK and was called by 44 … it’s okay, it’s what it is …

Well I have yet to play a bracelet event, not a fan of the 3k in start chips and don’t know some of the other games, or the timing hasn’t been right. Been hanging out in the satellite room, and I just love to play single table satellites. I generally chop them up when we get to heads up and let them do the paperwork and I take the cash, it’s a good routine we have worked out. Got down heads up with a guy the other day who said he wouldn’t chop it evenly as he had more chips. He offered to save $500 for 2nd and we would play for the rest.” So he leaves with his $500 chip.

Been doing the daily tournament but have only gotten incredibly close. The fields have been massive 700-800 but that’s allright, they play fast. I’ve been sort of the bubbler on the three I’ve played but that is allright too. One of them, the middle one, I thought I made some mistakes I could have avoided so I worked to play without those mistakes. I like my game.

It’s a different Series for me, but that’s allright too …

Well I’m trying to do it different this year. Last year I got burned out the long, tireless events for endless days. So I decided not to do that this year. I’ve been playing a lot of satellites and just letting the other player buy me out in cash as they do the paperwork. On to the next one. I’ve also played the daily tournament at 2 pm and that’s a big field with some decent chips. I may play my first bracelet event on Friday if I decide I’m up to the crapshoot. Strange that I’m okay if I don’t play these things this year. Work stuff is so exciting I’m enjoying that a whole lot more.

Makes me laugh

So I’m taking the kids to school the other day. Sierra says to Lincoln “did you know mom’s birthday is on Fathers Day this year?” Lincoln didn’t. I told them the year I was born I was born on Fathers Day and my mother put me in a shoebox and tied a pink ribbon on it and gave me to my dad as his gift that year. My dad always said I was the best fathers day present he ever received. Lincoln thinks, then says “well I’d she punch holes in the top?” thinking I guess, the shoe box had the top on it and he was worried about air holes. Funny.
