Had to miss the Women in Poker Hall of Fame shin dig last week so wanted to participate in one of their events. Went to Binions and played their Charity event today. The hand which put me out isn’t noteworthy except … follow here .. had Jacks on a 7 high board, I push and get called by 8 7 which catches the 8. Puts me out. Left there and went to Bellagio to play their daily, was rocking along when get Jacks on the button, raise, one caller, board is 7 high, he bets. I move all in and he calls with 8 7 and he catches an 8 on the river. Ha, go out of two tournaments in one day with the exact same hand and the same play. Too funny. Leave Wednesday for Borgata.
Well its the day to honor all the laborers … I cooked a big meal and we ate mid afternoon, then naps and laziness followed. I like lazy family days a lot.
Well, what can I say … I show up, finally find where the registration is after walking the entire property several times (poker room sent me to the Global Event Center and the Global place tried to return me to the poker room). Nice people just not very organized yet. Got registered and started play.
Don’t believe I won a pot. My AJ couldn’t outrun A9 off, my A K couldn’t catch against 99, what I won I stole. Not much to say there. You’ve got to win a race or two to stay in that game.
Did have fun at the cash tables kicking around, played until almost 4 a.m. and ate at the tables … at least that was a fun group and the laughs were worthy. Back home mid afternoon on Sunday.
As I tell the children all the time, all you can do is show up and do your best. I did that .. next
Decided to play the Winstar $3 million guarantee in Thackerville, Nowhere. And I do mean nowhere. You gotta be headed to Thackerville in order to find this place. Facility is nice, the walk is long and hard. The event has three start dates but I’m only playing one, Saturday, today. Wish me luck.
So glad school is in and getting into the swing of things. Kids seem to be well lined up in their classrooms with a few of last year’s classmates returned to their respective classes. I think it will be a great year.
First day of school today, pretty exciting for them and me. I think I was just as excited as they were. Get home, read all the papers and discover Lincoln forgot to bring his homework home from school. Now that will make a great first impression.
