Decided to play the Bellagio tournament today as I will be on “baby duty” with school back in. Played cash and doubled my buy in and played the tournament. After 7 hours got down to 5 but only three spots were being paid. Had 10’s raised and had one caller. Board was 6 high rainbow, perfect but this fellow (who had already clipped me with my Queens vs his K 2 off) calls my shove with A 6 off and catches an ace on the river. Sigh.
School starts on the 30th so we are spending a lot of time getting things ready. Sierra is ready because she’s a girl and she loves school and pleasing. Lincoln, well … he didn’t even want to attend the Open House on Friday to find out where his classroom is. Total disinterest, fortunately he’s naturally bright and it comes easy for him.
Went to get school clothes and shoes. Lincoln is very particular about what he likes and what he will wear. I make him wear collared shirts (vs. his preferred choice tee shirts) although there’s no dress code at school. He was trying on shoes and had to try on all of them to find the right size, fit, design, feel, etc. Finally he had a pair on which he seemed to have settled in. I said “are those the shoes Lincoln?” He said “they might be but I can’t buy a pair of shoes that don’t run good” and proceeds to take off through the store. Must have met his test as we walked out with them. So funny.
We’ve been talking about making Hayden’s old room Lincolns, a move which I support. Although I get a lot of comfort out of sitting in Haydens room, it’s been five years and it’s time. It helps I was able to find some help (thanks Nat) making a quilt out of Haydens clothes so tackling the actual project less daunting. Lincoln got much more involved in it than I thought he would. Today he said “Mom, I thought moving rooms would be a bigger deal but this was easy, thanks.” Made it all worthwhile. Good project.
So nice to be back home although the unpacking and clothes are overwhelming. Slow and steady. Sierra is back in gymnastics camp, happy as a clam and Lincoln enjoying hanging out solo. We dropped Don at the airport for some biz and we are solo
Typical Sunday morning (altho I haven’t had much sleep). Took L & S to Sunday School then to the movies and to eat. Nice lazy day which we all three enjoy.
Haven’t played poker since the WSOP and have missed it. Went to the Hard Rock to play their Detox Series, $350 event. Made some money in cash prior to the 1 p.m. start so was freerolling (won my buy in) which was fun. Play is good, flopped top set and an overpair called my all in and he catches on the river. Sigh. Will be glad when my best hand holds up and this run stops ….
