Well the trip started at 3 a.m. and the flight at 7:10 in the morning and as anyone who reads this blog regularly knows, the Tyners don’t travel light. We were loaded and it was early. We sat 2 and 2 but as the plane was full we both had a “guest”. Mine was this incredible goofball who had 7 + (I stopped counting at 7) beers that I saw. He was headed to Vegas for a reunion. Talked about what a great poker player he was. Sure hear that a lot on flights to Vegas and then you never see them again. Glad to be back and glad to get unpacked. Everyone very tired and early to bed.

Today starts Vacation Bible School at the oldest Presbyterian church in all of the United States. The First Presbyterian Church in Southampton, NY takes the title of the oldest, somewhere in the 1600’s. It’s very cool. L & S were enrolled and I volunteered. They made me the official photographer, something I do well and really enjoy, especially of children. Fun day. Then took them to the movies to see the new Cats and Dogs. I took my Vespa and Don dropped the kiddos off, very cool tooling around town. The Vespa reminds me of helicopters, a lot of fun but you’re always looking for a place to put them down safely .. same here …

There’s an annual sale we all like to hit and it was this morning. Talk about a bunch of scavengers – I don’t know who is worse the group selling or the Tyners. We got all sorts of things and left there happy. I fixed a big meal then movies for the afternoon. Fun, lazy day.

Today is my 10th Anniversary, hard to believe in some ways. We’ve been through so much in the last decade …

Don and the kids surprised me with a Vespa, bright pink with a matching helmut. The dealer is in Southampton, a full 20 miles away, I got a two second lesson and then .. I was off. Too scared to take the main highway I took the back roads. Slow but sure I made it back. Very cool little deal. I’m enjoying the freedom but it’s a little scary. Sure I will feel better as I get to feel more secure on it. Very neat. Thanks family.

Carnival

Tried to take the twins to a carnival recently but it seems it got rained out every single day and when the rain stopped they had packed up and left town. So sad. So a new one is in Sag Harbor, close by, so we headed there. The twins
rode some rides I probably wouldn’t have figured they would want to .. but they insisted. One was a centrifigal force one which they loved. Then when we told them “one last ride”, they both chose to ride the centrifical force one again. Afterwards, in the car, Lincoln said he didn’t feel well. We told him to let us know if he was going to throw up … but as fate would have it, we didn’t find out until we heard that familiar sound. Oh gosh, what a mess. Parenthood, such fun.

Well it seems I spend more than half my life at airports, and I don’t mind really, but I hate to drop off my sister and her friend and go back home. We’ve had such a good visit. Sierra made the trip with me – 100 miles round trip – but Lincoln stayed at home. We had a really good visit and I’m glad they came. Especially glad the twins got to have family here for their 8th birthday. Sigh.
