Well the saga continues. Got up and played the $1500 NLH at noon. It isn’t so much bad luck as just inexperienced players and small chip stacks. I turned a flush and could NOT get the set to go away and the board paired on the river. Unlucky for me for sure but nothing I did was going to work there. Played the deepstack next and it was small blind vs. big blind (my friend Chris Bigler keeps warning me of the perils of unraised pots) Flop is AAJ, she bets with A3, I reraise with A7 and we get it all in and of course a 3 hits the river. So retreated to my regular hangout, the satellite room and chopped two single table sit and go’s to call it even in funds for the day and to toss in the towel.

Going to get the gators tomorrow and spend the day outside the poker world enjoying them. They will stay with me tomorrow night and then back to the grind on Sunday.

Well there is one thing this Series has taught me it is to dedicate the time to learn the other games. This being limited to Texas Hold Em when the value is in duece to seven low ball (300 players vs. 3500 players, duh) so that will be a goal/

There are mostly $1k NLH events with massive fields vs much smaller fields for the other games, not to mention better players so I will leave this Series with that in mind for sure.

Bad Beats

Well it’s been a while since Ive written but there’s a reason. I’m on a one woman quest to get the bad beats out of the way before the Main Event. At the rate I’m going I will be a luck box for the Main. And all who read this will know why!

First there was the Seniors Event last Friday. Levels were still low and a guy raised every pot. I called from the big blind with KK as there were only three of us and my theory was to flop a set or to get out. Only $3k in starting chips doesn’t allow much wiggle room. Flop K J 3 rainbow. Perfect. Original raiser continuation bets 600. One caller. I make it 2200. Both call. Turn a blank. I move all in. Original raiser calls with AA and catches an ace on the river. Sigh. An unusually early exit for me.

Next day was the 1k. Move my chips up, call loose player with KJ. Flop KJ with two hearts. Bet. He moves all in showing 7 4 of hearts and gets there on the turn. Got clipped. Climb back up healthy. Slowly and surely. Finally have KJ diamonds in an unraised pot and I limped under the gun b/c of my position. Flop the nut flush when the board comes A Q 4 all diamonds. Big blind Instantly moves all in. I couldn’t wait to call. He turns over QJ with a pair of queens and no diamond. Turn is a queen and the river is a 4 and I am out. Wowser.

Today was the shootout event where you play a single table down to one player who advances. I took it slow and steady and careful. Table packed with Internet young guns who do this all day every day. After 2.5 hours I was heads up and out chipped about 2 to 1. I spent an hour and a half carefully and judiciously getting almost even in chips. Then the next hand. I had 10 8 on the button. Flop J 9 7. He bets. I reraise. He hesitantly calls. Turn a blank. He moves all in. I call with the the nuts. He turns over Q 10 and catches a king on the river for a higher straight. It stung but I played my best. Like I say … Hope they call me a luck box during the next one. I will laugh hard.

My Birthday

Woke up with tons of good birthday wishes thanks to social networking – so thanks to everyone. Played the $1k and took a horrendous beat. Left and headed to see my babies who had made me birthday cards and had lots of hugs. They came back to the Rio with me and spent the night. I love my time like that. It’s all about them and the rest seems insignificant. Just what the doctor ordered.

Well in an unusual turn I am out early. Called a pre flop with KK. Flop K J 4 rainbow. Perfect for me.  original player makes it 600. Other player calls. I make it 2200. Both call. Turn a blank. We get all in AA my top set and the KJ and an ace hits the river. Set over set. Still shaking. And as it turns out it was a one outer. Only ace left in the river. Only hand which could take me out hits. Bad luck. Let’s get these bad beats out before the Main Event. Ya listening?

Out of today’s event. Seems like I lost every race I was in. AK vs QQ and then when I had QQ lost to AK. Happens but ya gotta win some of those. One of those days but am overall pleased with my game. Almost 2500 players and I lasted to 390 without winning a key race. Something to be said for longevity. New day tomorrow.
