Started the Day 1 of the $lk event today along with 2,601 other people. $3,000 in starting chips and just a struggle, got to a low of 2400 and a high of 4200. After four hours of hard laboriois play I was at the starting stack of 3k.

BUT I’ve worked hard on my game the last year and worked hard to pick my spots and to take my time and yesterday it was rewarded.

Young gun moved to my table with some chips, I’m just nursing my original pathetic stack when the following hand occurs: I raise from the cutoff with K J off. He calls from the blind. Flop 8 6 6 check/check turn is an 8 he checks, i check. River a 7, he fires big into it .. about 1200. I knew he didn’t have anything because of the way it came down. I call I say only to see him turn over J 10 and my K was good. A few hands later, he was still tilting and I raise his blind again with QQ. All In he proclaims, I have to call I say and he turns over JJ and I got his chips.

Long, hard, arduous day but a great tribute to patience and solid reads. 2,601 started, 260 end and I’m 2nd in chips with 103k. Chip leader has 110k. Anothrer start day today then the remaining players from the two days play down on Monday.

Well being at the Rio today is like old home week. From valet to bellmen to renting the safety deposit box it is nice to be recognized. It is going to be a GREAT Series. I can feel it.

So anyone who knows me knows I’m a true health nut. Many people ask me what is different for me to prepare for a major tournament so here goes: No dairy (clouds the mind), no white flour or pasta or breads (not things I eat normally anyhow) no sugar (results in sugar fog of the brain) no alcohol until after the event has ended (mid July), lots of alkaline water and supplements too many to mention. In addition I am BIG on detoxing and cleansing the spirit, soul and body. There’s a place I go to for a few days before the Main Event where I can rest and replenish. Wanted to make it there before the start of this whole thing but the schedule didn’t permit so hopefully before the big one in July.

Will keep you posted.

Well it’s a busy week with the end of the school year and the start of the most exciting time for a poker player … The World Series at the Rio. Almost 60,000 people will venture through the doors of the Rio and I haven’t ever played with 59,500 of them .. so lots of things to learn. Can’t wait. Will be posting from the IPAD from the tables .. so stay posted.
